This is actually, all too simple

Coulda been simpler... but hey, what fun is that?

The first step to riggin' your router to be a, well, more powerful router... is to simply pull off the top section of the antenna. inside you will see a metal tube with the center wire of the coax cable sticking out. Check out the picture below.

Here you can see the little wire sticking out of the metal tube.

Ok, so, you are now thinking how in the world you are going to connect your coaxial-type connection to that thing. The answer is simple - you don't. After spending too much of my life trying to answer that exact question and of better/cheaper/quicker ways of making this work, I finally decided that this was going to be one ghetto project. I felt kinda bad/weird about what I did next, but, it's all in the name of cheapness and laziness. Not so much the laziness as the ghettoness, but... you get the picture.

 

So, shall we move on?
